For the Love of Airships
I have a vice that’s amazingly entertaining, and it’s a time-sucker, but I love it.
YouTUBE.
I take a break from my writing, browse the video’s; I always find something intriguing.
One of my most recent finds: Airships, Steampunk, and short films for your viewing fun. I thought I’d share three of them with you.
I’m not going to give detailed reviews. They range from ten minutes to half an hour. Watch them. You won’t regret it.
Aurora
“Winner – Best Action/Adventure Film … Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival 2013.
After his wife is kidnapped by a group of slave traders, Emerson Marks, captain of the airship ‘Aurora’, must fight against all odds in order to rescue her.”
The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello
This half-hour animated Steampunk adventure tale has echoes of Edgar Allan Poe. I enjoyed this one, especially the black and white, shadowy characters and the loud clanking of the cogs and gears.
Airlords of Airlia:
Here’s the PR blurb:
“Airlords of Airia is a fast-paced mix of science fiction, fantasy, and Steampunk elements. The viewer is led into a fantasy world where many unknown lands, cultures and life forms are still to be discovered, and every day holds a new adventure. Airlords of Airia is a feature film Project. An elaborate 10-minute special was produced with amateur actors in order to give you a taste into the world of Airlords.”
This reminds me of a storyboard acted out by amateur actors. The cinematography is pretty good as are the Steampunk gadgets. If you like those gadgets, give it a try, but be warned, the acting and the dialogue is amusingly cheesy. Here’s an example: One of the captains says, “They have dragons. That’s not fair.” I happen to enjoy amateur cheesy shorts.
